A MEMBERSHIP ASSOCIATION FOR ANIMAL PROTECTION

Not by Species, but by Need. Join the Campaign to Protect Animal Life & Liberty

Sentient animals share with us the basic needs for life and liberty, and yet the declarations and conventions naming those needs as fundamental have thus far reserved their protection to human beings on the basis of species rather than on the basis of the needs themselves. Join us as we work to extend those protections to animals across the nation.

"The present moment contains both past and future. The only material that the future is made of is the present. If you know how to handle the present in the best way you can, that’s all you can do for the future."
~ Thich Nhat Hanh

Previous Campaigns

The National Animal Life and Liberty Association was built on the foundations of three campaigns known as IP13, IP3, and IP28. These three initiative petitions for the 2022, 2024, and 2026 election cycles in Oregon proposed banning the injury, killing, and forced breeding of animals.

Current Initiatives

Our present intention is to continue to pursue statewide ballot initiatives seeking to protect animal life and liberty. To that end, we are working to garner the support needed to launch our next statewide campaign through membership recruitment and coalition building.

ENVISIONING A WORLD WHERE ANIMALS ARE PROTECTED

From Death & Captivity to Life & Liberty

What does it mean when we say we want to protect the life and liberty of other sentient animals? How might a world in which these needs are protected, for all of us, be different than it is today? Let's explore some strategies together.

"After the canvas the excitement died away…but the seed sown has silently taken root and sprung up everywhere. Or rather, the truths then spoken, and the arguments presented, sinking into the minds and hearts of the men and women who heard them, have been like leaven..."

Journal Articles

"Writing is unfortunately like painting; for the creations of the painter have the attitude of life, and yet if you ask them a question they preserve a solemn silence. And when they have been once written down they are tumbled about anywhere among those who may or may not understand them: and, if they are maltreated or abused, they have no parent to protect them."
